Pop Star May Be Deposed Over Texts in High-Profile Case
Taylor Swift is expected to provide sworn testimony in the ongoing legal dispute between actress Blake Lively and director Justin Baldoni, a case that has drawn intense media attention due to the celebrities involved. Swift, previously subpoenaed by Baldoni’s legal team, may now sit for a deposition scheduled for next month, pending court approval of a deadline extension.
The extension is being requested to accommodate Swift’s existing commitments, including the release of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl. If approved, her deposition will mark a significant development in the case, especially as Swift was once one of Lively’s closest friends.
The legal dispute centers around allegations made by Lively, who accused Baldoni—director of It Ends With Us—of harassment on set and leading a targeted smear campaign against her online after she reportedly raised concerns about his behavior.
Friendship in Question as Trial Date Nears
Although Baldoni’s defamation countersuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds was dismissed, the case has continued to escalate. One focal point has been the text messages exchanged between Lively and Swift, which Baldoni’s team was recently granted access to by the court.
A particularly controversial message allegedly sent by Lively referred to Swift and Reynolds as her “dragons,” suggesting they could be used to intimidate Baldoni. The message’s release reportedly caused a rift between the former friends, with insiders saying Swift has since distanced herself from Lively.
The trial is set to begin on March 9, 2026, and Swift’s deposition could become a key element in how the case unfolds. Whether her involvement will mend or further damage already strained relationships remains to be seen.
