India Dominate as Jurel Hits Maiden Century, Jadeja Stays Unbeaten
India took full control of the first Test against West Indies in Ahmedabad as KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja smashed centuries on day two. After dismissing the visitors for just 162 on day one, India piled on the runs, closing the day at 448/5, with a massive 286-run lead.
The highlight of the day was Dhruv Jurel’s maiden Test hundred — a composed 125 — which came in a 206-run fifth-wicket stand with Jadeja, who remained unbeaten on 104 at stumps. Jurel showed patience and maturity, while Jadeja entertained with five towering sixes during his fluent knock.
The duo’s partnership turned the tide further in India’s favour, leaving West Indies with little to celebrate on a tough day in the field.
KL Rahul Anchors the Start, Gill Chips In With Fluent 50
Resuming on day two at 146/1, KL Rahul carried on from where he left off and completed his century, mixing aggression with calm stroke play. He got a lucky break early, edging Jayden Seales through the slip cordon, but made it count.
Shubman Gill also looked in good touch, playing crisp shots including a wristy flick and two boundaries off debutant Khary Pierre to notch a fluent 50. However, he fell soon after, caught at slip off Roston Chase while attempting a reverse sweep — a shot he may regret.
India now look well-placed to dictate the rest of the match with a commanding lead and a deep batting lineup.
