New Technology Analyses Movement in Just 5 Seconds
Dubai Police have launched a cutting-edge ‘Biometric Tunnel’, capable of identifying individuals based on their walking style and body movements. The high-tech tunnel, powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning, was showcased at GITEX Global 2025.
Developed by Dubiometrics, the tunnel studies a person’s joint movements, walking rhythm, and body balance to create a unique motion fingerprint — all within just five seconds of passing through.
Officials say the system will revolutionise forensic investigations, allowing faster and more accurate suspect identification, especially in cases where traditional methods fall short.
Biometric Parade to Replace Traditional Lineups
The Biometric Tunnel is part of a broader initiative to modernise criminal investigations. It will soon replace traditional identification parades with a “Biometric Parade”, where suspects are recognised through motion analysis rather than eyewitness testimony alone.
Beyond walking style, the system also integrates facial recognition, ear structure, and body measurements, making it a comprehensive tool in identifying individuals even when faces are obscured or altered.
Dubai Police officials believe the innovation will strengthen justice systems, enhance public safety, and set new global standards in law enforcement technology.
“In Dubai, even the way you walk could now reveal your identity,” a police spokesperson said, highlighting the city’s growing reliance on smart surveillance solutions.
