Muhammad Usman Abducted from Residential Parking Lot in Broad Daylight
A senior officer of the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency, Deputy Director Muhammad Usman, was abducted by unknown armed men from Islamabad, police confirmed on Saturday. The incident occurred on October 14, between 7 pm and 8 pm, in the parking area of Zara Heights, a residential complex in the city.
According to the Islamabad Police, four armed individuals intercepted Usman’s vehicle, forcibly dragged him out at gunpoint, and fled the scene. CCTV footage of the abduction has surfaced and is currently being reviewed by investigators.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Shams Colony Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s wife. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no breakthrough has been reported in the case. The high-profile abduction has sparked serious concerns about the safety of senior civil officers in the capital.
Second High-Profile Kidnapping in Recent Weeks Raises Alarm
This incident follows another unresolved abduction case involving Assistant Commissioner Ziarat Muhammad Afzal and his son Mustansar Bilal, who were kidnapped on August 10 in Zezri, Balochistan. While Mustansar Bilal was recently rescued from Harnai’s mountainous region, his father remains missing.
Earlier, a video was released by the kidnappers showing the father and son in captivity, urging authorities to meet undisclosed demands. The Balochistan government has offered a Rs50 million reward for credible information leading to the kidnappers. Search and rescue operations for Muhammad Afzal are still ongoing.
Authorities in Islamabad say they are making efforts to locate Muhammad Usman and identify those responsible for his abduction. Although there is no confirmed link between the two cases, officials admit that the back-to-back kidnappings of high-ranking officers raise pressing security concerns nationwide.
