Pakistan’s Clear Victory in May Conflict Strengthens National Resolve
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir, addressing the passing-out parade at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) in Kakul, issued a stern warning to India. He stated, “There is no space for war in a nuclearised environment.” His comments followed heightened tensions between India and Pakistan during a brief but intense four-day conflict in May 2025.
The skirmish began after an attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir’s Pahalgam. India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, which resulted in civilian casualties in Pakistan. In retaliation, Pakistan conducted “Operation Bunyanum Marsoos,” showcasing advanced military tactics including drone and artillery strikes. A ceasefire was eventually brokered through U.S.-led diplomatic efforts.
COAS Munir hailed Pakistan’s military as battle-hardened and capable. He noted the swift and effective response by the armed forces, including the downing of Indian Rafale jets and the targeting of key Indian military sites. He described the victory as clear and decisive, calling it a reaffirmation of national unity and military strength.
COAS Reaffirms Support for Kashmir and Criticises External Interference
The army chief reiterated Pakistan’s support for the people of occupied Kashmir. He condemned India’s actions in the region, promising continued diplomatic and moral support for their freedom struggle. COAS Munir warned that even a minor provocation from India would be met with an overwhelming response. He asserted that the responsibility for escalation would rest solely with India.
He also criticized the use of Afghan soil for terrorism in Pakistan. Urging the Taliban regime in Kabul to curb anti-Pakistan proxies, he emphasized that Pakistan would eliminate all threats to its sovereignty. The COAS accused India of sponsoring terrorism through groups like Fitna al-Hind and Fitna al-Khawarij.
Pakistan Seen as Regional Stabiliser Amid Global Tensions
Highlighting Pakistan’s evolving role on the international stage, Munir said the country had emerged as a regional stabiliser. He praised Pakistan’s strong diplomatic ties with Muslim countries, China, and the U.S., and mentioned the recently signed Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement with Saudi Arabia.
COAS Munir condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and reiterated Pakistan’s support for a two-state solution with Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine. He also addressed the importance of economic recovery and warned against social media disinformation, urging citizens to think critically in the digital age.
The army chief concluded by urging new officers to uphold loyalty, professionalism, and innovation. He reminded them of the sacred duty of defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and maintaining the bond between the people and the armed forces.
