ISLAMABAD – Veteran columnist, writer, and former adviser to the Prime Minister, Irfan Siddiqui, passed away on Monday, family sources confirmed.
According to initial reports, Siddiqui had been unwell for some time and breathed his last in Islamabad. His funeral prayers and burial arrangements will be announced later by the family.
Irfan Siddiqui was widely respected for his intellectual depth, balanced political analysis, and long association with Urdu journalism. He contributed for decades to leading newspapers, earning recognition as one of Pakistan’s most thoughtful and influential commentators.
In addition to his journalism career, Siddiqui also served as a close aide and adviser on national affairs during the tenure of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Leaders from across the political spectrum, journalists, and literary figures expressed deep sorrow over his passing, calling it a “huge loss to Pakistan’s intellectual and journalistic community.”
