Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Lal Bakhsh Bhutto has passed away, marking the end of a distinguished political career dedicated to public service and the promotion of democratic values in Pakistan. His death has been widely mourned across political and social circles, with leaders paying tribute to his decades-long contributions to the nation.
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed profound sorrow over Bhutto’s demise, extending heartfelt condolences to his family. Terming his death a national loss, President Zardari emphasized that Lal Bakhsh Bhutto played a pivotal role in strengthening Pakistan’s democratic institutions and remained steadfastly committed to public service throughout his political career.
He highlighted that Bhutto’s dedication, contributions, and enduring struggle for democracy will always be remembered. Offering prayers for the departed leader, President Zardari said, “May Allah Almighty grant the deceased a place in the bosom of mercy and give patience to the bereaved family.”
Other PPP leaders also expressed grief and admiration for Bhutto’s legacy. Senator Sherry Rehman, in a post on X, described him as “a true loyalist, intellectual and thorough gentleman,” expressing her condolences to his family and acknowledging the party’s collective sense of loss. She wrote, “Deeply grieved over the passing of Lal Bakhsh Bhutto in Karachi. He was a true loyalist, intellectual and thorough gentleman. Praying for his soul to rest in peace and for his family to bear such a great loss with fortitude. The [PPP] family too feels the depth of this bereavement at many levels and generations. He will be sorely missed.”
Similarly, Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon condoled Bhutto’s death, highlighting his dedication to the party and public service. He extended heartfelt condolences to Senator Nadeem Bhutto and the late leader’s family, stating that the party stands with them in this time of grief.
Lal Bakhsh Bhutto leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, service, and commitment to democracy, making him a respected figure in Pakistan’s political landscape and a cherished member of the PPP. His passing is mourned not only by his colleagues but by the nation at large.
