Pakistan is taking a major step toward modernizing its emergency response system by developing its first centralized 911-style helpline. Work on the unified platform is currently in progress, and officials expect it to transform how emergency calls are handled across the country.
KP to Launch the System First
Officials from the National Telecommunication Corporation have confirmed that the project has entered its implementation phase. The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has already signed the agreement required for the service. Therefore, KP will become the first province to activate the centralized emergency number.
Once the system goes live, callers in any part of the province will connect automatically to the nearest emergency response center. This setup aims to reduce delays and ensure faster routing of critical information.
Nationwide Expansion Planned After KP Rollout
After the launch in KP, the federal plan is to expand the service to other provinces in phases. This staged rollout is designed to ensure smooth adoption and proper testing of the system’s features.
