Dubai International Airport (DXB) has emerged as one of the busiest airports globally, with Pakistan becoming its fourth-largest market. From January to September 2025, 3.2 million passengers traveled through DXB from Pakistan. This makes Pakistan a key source of tourism, business travel, and labor mobility for the UAE.
Rising Travel Demand from Pakistan
Millions of Pakistanis continue to use DXB for various purposes, including family visits, job opportunities, and transit to Europe, the Middle East, and North America. Steady travel throughout the year highlights the strong relationship between Pakistan and Dubai. Consequently, Pakistani travelers now rank ahead of the United States in DXB traffic statistics.
Record-Breaking Airport Traffic
Dubai airport achieved its highest-ever quarterly traffic between July and September, welcoming 24.2 million passengers. This marked a 1.9% year-on-year increase. Additionally, total passenger traffic from January to September reached 70.1 million, up 2.1% compared to last year. The 12-month rolling traffic hit 93.8 million passengers by September, the highest in the airport’s history.
Top Markets at DXB
India remained the largest market for DXB with 8.8 million passengers, followed by Saudi Arabia (5.5 million) and the United Kingdom (4.6 million). Pakistan ranked fourth, reflecting its importance in tourism and labor mobility. The airport continues to prioritize efficiency for these high-volume routes.
Smooth Operational Performance
Operational efficiency remains strong at DXB. Nearly all passengers clear border and security checks quickly. 99.6% of departing passengers clear passport control within 10 minutes, while 99.8% of arrivals wait less than 15 minutes. This rapid processing supports a seamless travel experience despite growing traffic.
Aircraft movements also remain high, with 115,000 flights in the third quarter and 336,000 flights in the first nine months. These numbers show consistent demand for international travel, especially from South Asia.
Infrastructure Upgrades to Meet Growing Demand
Dubai Airports is investing in expanding facilities at Terminals 1 and 3. These upgrades aim to accommodate increasing passenger volumes, particularly from South Asian countries. The improvements include enhanced processing, better security access, and upgraded amenities. Consequently, Dubai remains well-prepared to handle future growth in air travel.
Pakistan’s significant passenger numbers at DXB underscore the strong ties between the two countries. The record-breaking traffic also demonstrates Dubai’s rising status as a global travel hub. With ongoing infrastructure upgrades and efficient operations, DXB is set to maintain its position as a leading international airport for years to come.
