The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has carried out a major administrative overhaul, relieving all senior officers from their positions. The move comes through an official notification issued by the agency’s headquarters and is part of broader efforts to strengthen governance and accountability.
Senior Officers Relieved from Key Posts
According to the notification, several high-ranking officers were immediately removed from their posts. Additional Director Rawalpindi Abdul Rauf and Additional Director Admin Mahmood-ul-Hasan were among those relieved. Similarly, Additional Director Karachi Abdul Ghaffar and Additional Director Multan Ahmed Zaeem were dismissed.
In Abbottabad, Deputy Director Tahir Khan, previously serving as regional in-charge, has been designated Officer on Special Duty (OSD). Assistant Directors Asif Iqbal (Faisalabad) and Amjad Abbasi (Sukkur) also had their responsibilities withdrawn. All removed officers have been instructed to report back to NCCIA Headquarters immediately.
New Appointments Under Reshuffle
The reshuffle introduces new appointments to key zones. Ehsanullah Chauhan has been posted as Additional Director Rawalpindi, Mudassir Shah as Additional Director Peshawar, and Tariq Khan as Additional Director Quetta. Furthermore, Assistant Director Fasih, formerly serving in Karachi, has now been appointed in charge of the Sukkur Zone.
The restructuring has been formally implemented through the NCCIA headquarters notification, aiming to improve operational efficiency and accountability within the agency.
Corruption Allegations Trigger Punitive Action
Previously, nine NCCIA officers were designated Officers on Special Duty due to their alleged involvement in a corruption scandal and poor performance. The agency issued official notices highlighting punitive measures against these officers.
The officers named in the case include Additional Director Peshawar Amir Nazeer, Additional Director Quetta Hyder Abbass, and Deputy Director Suleman Awan. In addition, four sub-inspectors posted in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Abbottabad were also removed from their duties.
FIA Arrests Five Officials for Corruption
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted inquiries that led to the arrest of five NCCIA officials over corruption involving millions of rupees. Among those arrested is Additional Director Sarfraz Chaudhry. The officials are accused of misuse of authority and accepting bribes during their tenure.
The FIA confirmed that all five arrested officers will be presented before the court for further legal proceedings. This step underscores ongoing efforts to address corruption and reinforce integrity within Pakistan’s cybercrime investigative framework.
Agency Reforms Aim to Strengthen Governance
The NCCIA’s sweeping reshuffle and ongoing legal actions highlight a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency. The administrative reforms aim to restore public trust and ensure that the agency functions effectively in investigating cybercrime and related financial misconduct.
With a focus on accountability and professionalism, the NCCIA is set to implement stricter monitoring and reporting mechanisms for officers, ensuring improved service delivery and a corruption-free environment.
