If your Gmail inbox seemed out of sorts on Saturday, you weren’t alone. Google has confirmed that the issues affecting Gmail accounts have now been resolved.
According to Google Workspace’s official status dashboard, problems began around 5 a.m. Pacific Time on Saturday. Users reported “misclassification of emails in their inbox and additional spam warnings,” which meant emails normally sorted into Promotions, Social, or Updates ended up in the Primary inbox. Many also noticed spam warnings on messages from known contacts. Social media users described it as “all the spam is going directly to my inbox” and said Gmail’s filters seemed “completely busted.”
Throughout the day, Google updated the dashboard, noting that engineers were actively working to fix the problem. By Saturday evening, Google announced that the incident had been “fully resolved for all users.”
“Some Gmail users experienced a misclassification of emails in their inbox, delays in receiving email,” the company explained. “Additionally, misclassified spam warnings from the incident may persist for existing messages received before the issue resolution.”
Google also promised to “publish an analysis of this incident once we have completed our internal investigation.”
The disruption was first reported on January 24, 2026, and users can now check that their inboxes are back to normal.
