ISLAMABAD: The status of chairman of public accounts committee Noor Alam Khan has been declared equal to the federal minister.
Noor Alam Khan, a PTI dissident MNA, was appointed chairman of the PAC soon after the coalition government was formed. He was elected as an MNA from NA-27 Peshawar-1 on PTI ticket.
A couple of months ahead of Imran Khan’s ouster from power, Noor Alam Khan developed differences with PTI and he openly bashed his party for shortage of gas and loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Disgruntled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Noor Alam Khan was elected as the chairman of the PAC unopposed on Monday. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif suggested his name and Senator Talha Mehmood supported it.
Here is the notification issued by the cabinet division today:

On Monday, the cabinet division issued a notification, wherein the PAC chairman Noor Alam Khan was given the status of a federal minister with effect from Oct 14, 2022.
The notification says, “in the exercise of the powers conferred by rule 15(1)(g) read with serial No. 1A of Schedule-VA of the Rules of Business, 1973, the Prime Minister has been pleased to confer the status of the federal minister on Mr Noor Alam Khan, chairman, PAC with effect from 14th of October, 2022.”
