ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan is set to announce its verdict on Friday (Oct 21) in a reference seeking disqualification of PTI Chief Imran Khan over his failure to declare foreign gifts which bought from the Toshakhana.
The ECP has notified all the respondents, including the former PM Imran Khan about its decision of announcing its verdict tomorrow. On Sept 19, the commission had reserved its decision in this case.
From 2018 to 2022, Imran Khan retained some gifts from the Toshakhana when he was Prime Minister. He, nonetheless, did not declare some of the precious gifts in his annual statements of assets provided to the ECP.

Under the ECP law, all the lawmakers are supposed to declare their assets with the ECP every year.
Imran Khan not only retained gifts from Toshakhana but also sold some of them in the market and earned millions of rupees.
In a 60-page reply submitted to the ECP bench hearing one of the references, former PM Imran Khan admitted that he did not declare some of the gifts.
The ECP member from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ikramullah, maintained that a lawmaker is bound to declare the source of money he deposits with the Toshakhana to retain the gifts.
