ISLAMABAD: Former secretary of the Election Commission Kanwar Dilshad said that after disqualification Imran Khan is no more chairman of the PTI.
Dilshad said that PTI Chairman concealed facts about assets and it amounts to corruption.
After the ECP’s verdict, Imran Khan is neither a member of the National Assembly nor can he retains any other seat he won in the by-elections.
ECP has disqualified Imran Khan in the Toshakana reference and ruled that he is no longer a member of the National Assembly. The commission has ordered initiation of criminal proceedings against Imran for misdeclaration.
According to ECP, submitted a false affidavit and found guilty of corrupt practices under Article 63(1)(p).
Kanwar Dilshad said that Imran Khan is disqualified until the current assembly completes its term.
He said the sessions court can award up to three years sentence to Imran Khan for committing corruption.
The ECP will lodge a criminal case at a sessions court against Imran under Section 173 of the Election Act, he said. The electoral body will also direct the court to complete the proceedings within 120 days, he added, saying the court may sentence Imran to three years in prison.
After he is served the sentence, he will be disqualified for the elections in the coming days, the former ECP secretary said.
