ISLAMABAD: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif today agreed further promote CPEC and the strategic partnership between Islamabad and Beijing.
The bilateral consensus between the two leaders was reached today in Beijing as PM Shehbaz held an important meeting with Xi at the People’s Great Hall of China.
“Chinese president and PM Shehbaz discussed “broad-based cooperation in economy and investment and exchanged views on regional and global developments,” an official statement said.
PM Shehbaz Sharif is on a two-day official visit to China. It is the maiden vixsit of PM Shehbaz Sharif to China since he became premier in April this year.
Premier is heading a high-level delegation, including federal ministers, special assistants as well as the Sindh chief minister.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto are also accompanying the prime minister.
PM Shehbaz is among the first world leaders to visit China after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China that re-elected Xi Jinping as the general secretary of his party in Oct.
Earlier, PM Shehbaz Sharif explained that his visit to China was aimed at revitalising the CPEC, seeking Chinese investments, and increasing bilateral trade.
Pakistan and China are expected to make public their MoUs and uplift projects signed during the visit of PM Shehbaz Sharif to Beijing. PM Shehbaz will return to Pakistan tonight.
