ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf today filed petition with five registries of the Supreme Court in different cities, seeking the formation of judicial commissions to probe the murderous attack on Imran Khan in Wazirabad, murder of Arshad Sharif and video leak of Azam Swati.
Punjab police have registered an FIR of attack on Imran Khan but did not name PM Shehbaz, Maj-General Faisal Naseer of ISI and Rana Sanaullah, interior minister.
In the petition, the PTI urged the apex court to hold public hearings and form commissions on three matters quoted above.
Interestingly, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had already also written separate letters to Chief Justice of Pakistan to form JCs to probe attack on Imran Khan and murder of Arshad Sharif.
According to PTI, the assassination bid near Gujranwala was a “clear attempt to eliminate ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan”.
In its petition, PTI maintained that following the incident, another “grave injustice” continued to fester as the police did not nominate those mentioned in the request submitted by the complainant.
In light of this, the PTI urged the top court to invoke its original jurisdiction under Article 184(3) of the Constitution.
The petition also sought the formation of a judicial commission into the alleged “illegal video recording” of Senator Azam Swati and his wife, which according to the party, contains their footage while they were staying at an official rest house.
PTI also raised the case of slain journalist Sharif’s murder with the court. Arshad Sharif has been killed in mysterious circumstances by Kenyan police.
