ISLAMABAD: In the wake of growing cross-border attacks targeting Pakistani security forces from Afghanistan, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said Pakistan has decided to sort out the issues with neighbouring country.
Talking to media persons, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that there were some issues at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
She said, “The two sides are holding border flag meetings and discussions at various levels, including Kharlachi Border Crossing Point.”
Ms Baloch said the Chaman border has been reopened from Monday as a result of Border Flag Meetings between the two sides.
She said that the focus of the meetings was to clear pedestrian, traffic, and trade consignments.
On Nov 13, the Friendship Gate at Pak-Afghan border was closed after an armed man from the Afghan side attacked Pakistani security personnel, resulting in the martyrdom of one soldier.
Foreign Office spokeserson said Afghanistan has communicated its serious regret over the incident. She said that to investigate the incident, Afghanistan has constituted a high-level committee comprising officials from foreign and border and tribal affairs ministries, local chambers of commerce and tribal elders.
