ISLAMABAD: Fawad Chaudhary, Senior Vice President of PTI held a secret meeting with the US Ambassador Donald Blome at the US embassy in Islamabad.
Fawad and the US Ambassador discussed the prevailing political situation in the country in an hour-long meeting, the sources said.
This was second meeting of Fawad Chaudhry with the US diplomat in November. After the first meeting, Fawad first denied meeting but later confirmed it, Geo News reported quoting sources.
The US envoy often meets with PDM and PTI leaders but the details of the interactions are not disclosed to the media.
While confirming the meeting, Fawad Chauhdry claimed that it was a routine meeting.
Worth mentioning is that PTI chairman Imran Khan has backtracked from its stance that the US conspiracy led to removal of his government.
On April 9, Prime Minister Imran Khan was removed from PM’s office through a vote of no-confidence. Khan blamed PM Shehbaz Sharif and the President Joe Biden-led US administration for his ouster.
Later on, in an interview to the Financial Times in November, Khan said that “he no longer blames the US for his removal as PM and he wants dignified ties with the country if he comes back to power”.
Talking about the alleged US conspiracy, Khan said “it was over”.
