PM chairs crucial National Security Committee meeting in Islamabad to review prevailing challenges
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is chairing a crucial meeting of the National Security Committee in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The meeting is being held after the army and the government vowed to take to task the elements (mostly PTI supporters) who resorted to arsons and violence on May 9, soon after the arrest of Imran Khan.
Chief of Army Staff, federal ministers for Interior, Foreign Affairs, Finance, and chiefs of intelligence agencies are attending the meeting.
Earlier, the meeting of the National Security Committee was scheduled to be held last week, but it was rescheduled to Tuesday due to the political situation in the country.
The National Security Committee will review the prevailing security situation in the country.

Intelligence chiefs are expected to give a briefing to the participants of the NSC about the current challenges.
The meeting comes a day after the PDM’s protest outside the Supreme Court against relief to former prime minister Imran Khan in multiple cases.
The committee will also discuss the recent violence and evolve a strategy to handle the situation to avoid such incidents in the future.
