Najam Saqib, son of former chief justice Saqib Nisar today challenged in the Islamabad High Court the NA committee to probe audio leaks.
A few days ago, Speaker of the National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf formed a committee to look into the scandals of audio leaks.
Najam Saqib, who got famous from his leaked audios involving the sale of PTI tickets for making filthy money, has challenged the NA’s body.

In his petition, Najam Saqib said that the NA Speaker did not have the authority to form this body.
Therefore, he urged the Islamabad High Court to declare unlawful the committee.
Importantly, the NA’s committee has summoned Najam Saqib, son of the most controversial ex-chief justice, in the leaked audios which surfaced a couple of months ago.
In the audio, Najam Saqib can be heard talking about the approval of PTI tickets for a couple of candidates. He also asks one of his confidants not to accept less than 1.20.
It is believed that he is talking about one crore and 20 lakh rupees (12 million rupees) for facilitating a contestant in the election to get a PTI ticket for the Punjab Assembly seat.
Some controversial audios of Saqib Nisar have also surfaced on the social media and the PML-N leaders have blamed him for hatching conspiracies against Sharifs.
Judicial Commission for audio leaks
A few days ago, the federal government formed a three-member judicial commission headed by Justice Qazi Faez Isa to probe the audio leaks. The other two members of the commission are the chief justice of the Islamabad High Court and the chief justice of the Balochistan High Court.
However, the chief justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial stopped the proceedings of the judicial commission last week.
Notably, the audio leaks indicate the involvement of some judges and their family members in bench-fixing, the sale of PTI tickets, political manipulation, etc.
