ISLAMABAD: Cricketing legend Javed Miandad has made a statement claiming responsibility for the rise of Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to the position of Prime Minister.
However, Miandad now expresses regret over his decision to support Imran Khan.
During an interview, Miandad confidently asserted, “Today, I am telling you that I made Imran Khan the prime minister.”
When asked about his role in Khan’s ascent to power, Miandad smiled and attributed it to the intervention of some God-fearing individuals who played a significant part.
When questioned whether he had attended Khan’s oath-taking ceremony in 2018, Miandad confirmed his presence.
He, however, expressed disappointment, stating, “Yes, absolutely, I was there. I was sitting over there, but he didn’t thank me, and this hurt me.”
Miandad went on to claim, “If I were still supporting him today, he wouldn’t be in this condition. He used to listen to me. If I could make him the prime minister, then I could have also prevented his ouster.”
However, Miandad now believes that Khan’s chances of becoming the prime minister again are quite slim.
It is worth noting that Imran Khan, known for leading Pakistan to victory in the 1992 World Cup, remains a prominent figure in cricket history.
He captained the team to their first-ever World Cup win, a feat unmatched by any subsequent captain. Javed Miandad himself was part of the victorious 1992 World Cup squad.
In April 2022, Khan was removed from the position of prime minister through a no-confidence motion initiated by the current ruling parties, marking the first time a premier had been ousted through a no-trust vote.
Imran Khan fears his arrest
Former prime minister and chairman of PTI Imran Khan again claimed that he would be arrested within two weeks.
Khan has told his close aides that he (IK) has received information about his arrest in two weeks’ time.
Therefore, he has discussed his decision with his PTI confidants who are hiding at this time.

“If the police arrest me, Bushra Bibi will share with you names of the core committee members who will run the affairs of the PTI,” Khan told his loyalists.
PTI chairman said that if he disclosed the names of the core committee members before his arrest, police will arrest them.
Hence, for security reasons, Bushra Bibi, wife of Imran Khan, will disclose the names of the PTI leaders who will become members of the core committee and run the party in the absence of Khan.
Imran Khan is facing a number of criminal cases, including the recent murder of a senior lawyer in Quetta. Khan feels that he can be arrested in any of the ongoing cases against him.
