Iran summons Swedish envoy
Iran summoned the Swedish envoy in Tehran and strongly protested against the desecration of the Holy Quran.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed its “strong condemnation and dissatisfaction” regarding the failure to take necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of incidents of violations against Islamic sanctities.
Recent public desecrations of the Qur’an in Sweden have sparked widespread anger among the international community.
Additionally, on Friday, a man set fire to a book purported to be the Qur’an in front of the Iraqi embassy in the Danish capital, Copenhagen.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi snubbed the Swedish government’s response to the burning of the holy Quran. Raisi said that just condemning the sacrilegious conduct was not enough.
“Issuing a statement to condemn the insult against the holy Quran by the Swedish government is by no means sufficient and this government must bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice,” the president stated in remarks.
Moreover, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the KSA stated that an “extremist group in Denmark burned a copy of the Holy Qur’an.

The group also raised slogans of hatred and racism against Islam and Muslims. And this happened in front of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the capital, Copenhagen.”
In response to these incidents, Middle Eastern nations summoned their Swedish and Danish diplomats to protest.
The ministry strongly condemned these acts that incite hatred and violence between religions and warned against repeating such provocative acts.
These actions affect millions of Muslims worldwide and are considered a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms.
Jassem Albudaiwi, the secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, also expressed his strong condemnation and denunciation of the burning and desecration of a copy of the Qur’an in Copenhagen.
He stated that the continuation of such heinous acts and irresponsible behavior reflects extremism and hatred of religions. He called on Denmark to take immediate action to hold those extremists accountable in accordance with international laws, treaties, and norms that protect and preserve religions.
Kuwait also condemned the recent incident, stating that “this provocative act deepens hatred, fuels extremism, and offends Muslims worldwide.”
