United States assures Iran
TEHRAN: The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced that Washington assured Tehran about proceeding with a recent deal involving detainee swaps and the release of frozen Iranian assets abroad.
Nasser Kanaani revealed that the process of releasing prisoners and accessing Iran’s financial resources would follow the established agreement.
“The implementation of that deal is guaranteed by the U.S.,” he added.

Kanaani clarified that under the terms of the deal, Iran now has complete access to its own resources and can utilize them to purchase goods. The remaining resources will be converted into a deposit that will accrue an interest rate.
Last week, Iranian officials announced that South Korea has decided to unfreeze their assets involving around $7 billion.
The efforts to unfreeze Iranian assets are not linked to the negotiations to revive the 2015 nuclear deal. However, he acknowledged that these issues could influence each other.
Reiterating Iran’s commitment to the negotiations aimed at lifting anti-Iran sanctions, Kanaani stated, “We have never pursued an interim or partial agreement.”
Furthermore, the Iranian Foreign Minister refuted any connection between the release of Iran’s blocked overseas assets and the prisoner exchange with the U.S.
Abdollahian clarified that the preparations to unlock Iran’s assets abroad had no involvement with the U.S.-Iranian prisoner swap.
He said that the goals of the prisoner exchange and the release of Iran’s assets are separate components of the deal between Iran and the U.S.
Abdollahian revealed that indirect communication between Iran and the U.S. had been ongoing for months. He firmly stated, “We have never aimed for an interim or incremental agreement.”
Regarding the blocked assets in South Korea, he attributed their frozen status to a “cruel order” from Washington.
He explained that these funds could now be used to acquire goods exempted from sanctions.
