ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan today announced that the general elections will be held in the last week of January 2024.
The Commission said that by Nov 30, 2023, it will complete the delimitation process and hold the elections in January 2024.
The ECP announced this after holding a meeting in Islamabad wherein the officials of the Commission reviewed the ongoing process of delimitation.
With this announcement, the Commission has ended uncertainties pertaining to the upcoming general elections.

HEC is giving 2000 Laptops to ECP to prepare for elections
Meanwhile, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) is set to supply brand-new 2000 laptops to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The HEC is giving laptop to ECP for preparation for the forthcoming general elections.
The ECP has finalized an agreement with the HEC for the procurement of 2,000 laptops.
The laptops will be allocated to returning officers (ROs) for use during the upcoming general election procedures.
The laptops to be acquired by the HEC are of standard internal specifications. Simultaneously, on Tuesday, the ECP issued a report revealing that the total number of registered voters in the country has now surpassed 126 million.
As per the latest data released by the ECP as of September 19, 2023, the total number of voters nationwide has exceeded 126.9 million.
The report also highlights the significant role that young voters will play in the upcoming elections in Pakistan. According to the data, there are a total of 55.7 million young voters.
Furthermore, the report indicates that the gender distribution among voters in Pakistan stands at 54.02 percent male and 45.98 percent female.
