PTI leader and former National Assembly Speaker, Asad Qaiser, faced a subsequent arrest in Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after obtaining bail in a corruption case earlier the same day. The arrest occurred outside Swabi Jail.
Previously, an anti-corruption court in Abbottabad had granted bail to Asad Qaiser, who is implicated in corruption related to the procurement of equipment for Gajju Khan Medical College. He was initially arrested on November 3 from Bani Gala, Islamabad.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) had filed a case against Qaiser, alleging his involvement in financial irregularities during the purchase of medical equipment for Swabi’s Gajju Khan Medical College.
The FIR claimed that Qaiser, along with four health department employees, caused a substantial financial loss to the treasury through corrupt practices in equipment procurement during the previous PTI government’s tenure.
Asad Qaiser had served two terms in both the National Assembly and provincial assembly constituencies. After the 2013 general elections, he became the speaker of the provincial assembly, and his victory in the 2018 polls elevated him to the position of the NA speaker.
