The COP28, the world’s largest climate change conference, commenced in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with President Dr. Sultan Al Jaber declaring, “hearing no objections, it is so decided,” accompanied by the resonating sound of the gavel and applause echoing through the room.
Within just an hour of this decision, a remarkable $420 million was pledged for the ‘loss and damage’ fund, underscoring the collective political commitment to supporting those most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
King Charles III of Britain expressed his fervent hope that the UN’s COP28 climate talks would mark a “critical turning point” in the ongoing battle against global warming. Addressing world leaders in Dubai, he emphasized his heartfelt prayers for COP28 to catalyze genuine and transformative action.
Acknowledging countries like Pakistan grappling with the devastating effects of climate change, King Charles urged the international community to embrace green technology for a sustainable future.
