The Grand Tribal Jirga of Balochistan has issued an appeal to dissatisfied Baloch individuals, urging them to integrate into the mainstream and contribute to the nation’s development. The emphasis was placed on resolving mutual conflicts to ensure sustainable peace in the province.
Conducted under the leadership of Caretaker Chief Minister Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki, the Jirga addressed the longstanding tribal disputes in Balochistan. Domki expressed the need to expedite efforts to end these conflicts through trustworthy intermediaries. He called upon reliable individuals to actively engage in resolving tribal issues and work towards a peaceful settlement between local tribes.
The Caretaker Chief Minister urged tribal elders to engage with disenchanted Baloch individuals, encouraging them to participate in the construction and development of both the province and the country. Emphasizing the importance of national integrity, Domki asserted that there is no room for compromise when it comes to the country’s survival, highlighting the state’s commitment to defending peace.
Minister of Home and Tribal Affairs Mir Zubair Khan Jamali welcomed tribal leaders, outlining the primary goals of the Jirga. He extended a welcome to those who had previously been associated with anti-state activities but had now chosen to align with the national cause, recognizing the futility of destructive endeavors.
Tribal leader Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani stressed the need for the involvement of commissioners, deputy commissioners, and administrative officers in resolving tribal conflicts. He proposed the formation of regional reconciliation committees to address local-level disputes and promote peace.
Former federal minister and tribal leader Sardar Umar Khan Gorgaij called for decisive steps to resolve conflicts between different tribes in the province. Caretaker Minister for Sports Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani emphasized the unity of the nation, urging everyone to set aside conflicts for the collective development of Pakistan.
Caretaker Provincial Law Minister Amanullah Khan Kanrani asserted that lasting peace in Balochistan could be established through the establishment of justice and the rule of law. Former militant Gulzar Imam Shambay, reflecting on fifteen years of armed struggle, advocated for a peaceful dialogue as the only solution to Balochistan’s problems.
