Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has announced a significant reduction in the prices of well-known brands of ghee and cooking oil nationwide, according to the reports. A spokesperson revealed that the price of popular ghee brands has been lowered by 17 rupees per kilogram, while the prices of cooking oil have been decreased from Rs. 48 to Rs. 37 per liter, as stated in a press release.
Under the revised prices, ghee will now be priced at Rs. 482 per kilogram, down from Rs. 499. Additionally, cooking oil prices will range from Rs. 422 to Rs. 470 per liter, and other branded cooking oil will be available at Rs. 518 per liter, a reduction from Rs. 555.
These adjustments are effective immediately. The Utility Stores Corporation emphasizes its commitment to facilitating consumers by taking measures to lower the prices of various other items.
Previously, concerns were raised about essential item prices at Utility Stores being higher than those in the open market. A report indicated that sugar is priced at Rs. 155 in Utility Stores, compared to the open market rate of Rs. 135.28, reflecting a difference of Rs. 19.72. Similarly, a 20 kg flour bag is priced at Rs. 2840 in Utility Stores, while the open market price is Rs. 2820.34, resulting in a Rs. 19.66 lower cost outside Utility Stores.
