The Foreign Office (FO) expressed strong condemnation on Sunday for the attack on an Iranian police station that resulted in the tragic death of 11 policemen. The FO affirmed its “full solidarity” with the people and government of Iran during what it described as an “hour of unspeakable tragedy.”
The incident occurred on Friday, where at least 11 Iranian police officers lost their lives in a nighttime assault on a police station in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan. This marked one of the deadliest attacks in years for the region situated near Iran’s border with Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Jaish Al Adl (Army of Justice) group, a designated “terrorist” organization blacklisted by Iran since its formation in 2012. The group announced its involvement through a brief statement on its Telegram channel.
In response to the incident, the FO released a statement extending Pakistan’s “heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims” and expressing prayers for the swift recovery of the injured. The statement emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Iran and underscored the need for collective efforts to confront terrorism, which it described as a threat to both regional and global peace and security. The FO highlighted the importance of addressing this menace through various means, including bilateral and regional cooperation.
