Fashion enthusiasts were treated to a vibrant showcase at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit in Moscow in early December. The event featured 10 fashion shows and presented the designs of 13 talented individuals over five days.
The diversity of styles catered to various audiences, ranging from glamorous gowns to sleek party wear and innovative streetwear.
Hany El Behairy, the Egyptian designer, stole the spotlight with his glamorous and elegant creations, reminiscent of opulent designs seen in Faraz Manan or Elan collections in Pakistan. His intricate bead and thread work were showcased, reflecting his penchant for bold and beautiful designs.
Arzu Caprol from Turkey offered a different aesthetic with sleek glamour and shimmery elegance. Her designs, more suitable for clubs or parties, featured eye-catching beadwork and the use of diverse materials to create a wow factor.
Shruti Sancheti from India took a practical approach, merging traditional materials and designs with streetwear elements. Her handcrafted fabrics formed the basis of the “Hut to High Streets” collection, which aimed to make Indian craftsmanship globally appealing and accessible.

Ritesh Kumar, another Indian designer, focused on contemporary fits and casual outfits, emphasizing comfort in his designs. His experimentation with materials and jacket silhouettes resulted in highly wearable and versatile pieces.
Naushad Ali, also from India, presented a blend of modern and traditional designs, incorporating traditional embroideries and patterns into flowing silhouettes. His creations were designed not just for the runway but with practicality and wearability in mind.
Gaurav Khanijo showcased a unique blend of modernity and eclectic designs, particularly in menswear. His vibrant colors, intricate embroidery, and mehndi details added a touch of personalization and were seen as potential statement pieces.
Indonesian designer Aldrè impressed with asymmetrical cuts, black and white accents, and unique elements like dragon scales and horns. Despite avant-garde elements, Aldrè’s designs were wearable and could serve as statement pieces to elevate everyday wardrobes.
What stood out among these designers was their common aspiration to reach new global audiences. The BRICS+ Fashion Summit provided a platform for these creative minds to transcend borders and make their unique fashion perspectives accessible to people worldwide.
