In a surprising turn of events, candidates affiliated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have formally requested the withdrawal of their Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Nazriati (PTI-N) tickets, submitting applications to the Returning Officers.
This unexpected move has ignited speculation about a strategic shift in the political landscape, as these candidates abandon the familiar bat symbol in favor of a diverse range of sports equipment.
The applications stress the candidates’ eagerness for the allocation of independent symbols, and in response, the Returning Officers have assigned unique symbols to the concerned candidates.
For instance, in Gujranwala, PTI candidate Rana Sajid Shaukat, contesting from NA-79, has chosen the wicket as his election symbol. Another PTI candidate, Arqam Khan, also from Gujranwala, has secured the racket as his election symbol. Meanwhile, Ahmed Chatta, running from NA-66, has been granted the bowl as his election symbol.
Sohail Zafar Cheema, a PTI candidate in Gujranwala, has been allotted the Piala election symbol, while Nasir Cheema has opted for the rollercoaster as his election symbol. Additionally, Bilal Nasir Cheema, representing PTI, has been assigned the stabilizer as his electoral symbol.
The applications, highlighting the candidates’ preference for independent symbols, underwent thorough review by the Returning Officers, who subsequently approved the requests for alternative electoral representations.
Notable examples include PTI candidate Rana Sajid Shaukat from NA-79, selecting the wicket as his election symbol. Similarly, in Gujranwala, Arqam Khan securing the racket as his election symbol, and Ahmed Chatta, the PTI candidate from NA-66, being granted the bowl as his election symbol.
This strategic move by PTI candidates to withdraw PTI-N tickets underscores the dynamic nature of political decisions during the electoral process, as candidates strategically navigate symbol allocations for optimal representation in the upcoming elections.
