On Thursday, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced that the party is set to kick off its election campaign on January 20 (Saturday), with plans to run the campaign nationwide. Khan mentioned that the final list of candidates would be made available on the same day.
Addressing the relationship between Iran and Pakistan, Khan emphasized the need to prevent tensions from escalating, stating that the entire nation stands in solidarity with the Pakistani Army.
In a development on Wednesday, Iqbal Shah, the candidate endorsed by PTI, opted out of contesting the elections in NA-155 (Lodhran). Aamir Iqbal Shah, Iqbal Shah’s son, relayed the decision, stating, “My father has decided not to participate in the elections for the national seat.” He added, “I will be contesting the elections from PP-228.“

Meanwhile, in a brief but impactful address at an election rally, Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the PML-N and former prime minister, asserted that if he had not been ousted from office by a five-judge Supreme Court bench in 2017, the nation would have experienced widespread prosperity and employment.
Speaking at a sizable gathering in Hafizabad, Nawaz Sharif expressed the party’s commitment to rejuvenate Pakistan’s self-sufficiency. Notable party members, including Saira Afzal Tarar, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Maryam Nawaz, and Azam Nazeer Tarar, joined him at the inaugural rally for the 2024 election campaign.
