On Friday, an accountability court deferred the indictment of the former prime minister and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the NCA £190 million case.
The scheduled indictment, set for today, has been postponed until January 24. AC Judge Muhammad Bashir presided over the case hearing at Adiala Jail.
The deferment was attributed to the absence of the PTI founder’s lawyer, Ali Zafar, in the proceedings. January 24 has now been designated for the indictment, and relevant parties have been served notices accordingly.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) initiated an investigation against the former prime minister, Bushra Bibi, and others for alleged gains involving hundreds of acres of land under the name of Al Qadir University Trust. This purportedly led to a loss of £190 million to the national exchequer.
According to the charges, the former prime minister and other accused individuals allegedly adjusted Rs50 billion (equivalent to 190 million pounds at the time) that was sent by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the government.
On December 26, 2019, the PTI chief established the Trust for the Al-Qadir University Project.
PTI Alleges PTV Sports Censored Imran Khan’s Poster At Cricket Match
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has raised concerns over the alleged censorship during a live cricket broadcast on Pakistan Television (PTV), claiming that the transmission was abruptly cut after a spectator displayed a poster of Imran Khan during the fourth T20 international between Pakistan and New Zealand.
A screengrab posted on PTI’s X account captured the moment when a spectator held a poster of Imran Khan with the caption ‘Legend of the legends.’ However, the broadcast was interrupted, switching to PTV’s logo on the screen after the spectator appeared for a brief moment during the sixth over of the match.
The party took to X, questioning the sudden interruption and wrote, “Anyone knows why PTV suddenly stopped streaming the cricket match when they realized Imran Khan’s poster was being shown?”
