On Wednesday, an explosion outside the political office of independent candidate Asfand Yar Khan Kakar in Pishin, Balochistan, resulted in at least 14 fatalities and over 30 injuries. Kakar, contesting elections from NA-265 constituency and Balochistan Assembly constituencies PB-47 and PB-48, was not present in his office during the incident.
Security forces have cordoned off the area, establishing a perimeter to control access and maintain order. Emergency services, including ambulances and law enforcement agencies, swiftly arrived at the scene to manage the aftermath of the blast. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, where medical teams are working tirelessly to provide necessary care.
The blast occurred in Pishin’s Khanozai area, and the injured individuals were promptly taken to Tehsil Hospital Khanozai. According to Dr. Habib, the hospital’s MS, many of the injured are in critical condition.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken notice of the incident and called for a report from the Balochistan chief secretary and Inspector General of Police (IGP). A spokesperson for the ECP has directed authorities to take action against those responsible for the attack.
Asfand Yar Khan Kakar stated that the explosion occurred from a motorcycle outside his election office. He reported that eight of his workers were martyred, and more than 18 were injured during the incident while finalizing the names of polling agents in the election office. Kakar, who was in Barshore when the blast occurred, is currently en route to Khanozai, Pishin.
