Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the potential candidate for Chief Minister of Punjab, has expressed admiration for the remarkable bravery, wisdom, and dedication exhibited by a senior police officer in Lahore recently.
In a heartfelt tribute to Gulberg Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi on the social media platform X, the senior PML-N leader praised the officer’s decisive actions that prevented a potential disaster and earned recognition from the highest levels of government.
“Thank you, Shehrbano! We are all proud of you,” she tweeted.
The tribute follows a recent incident in Lahore’s Ichhra bazaar where a group of religious extremists harassed a woman over her attire.
Maryam commended the ASP for maintaining her commitment to both the law and humanity despite facing immense pressure, a large crowd, and challenging circumstances.
As the nominee for CM, Maryam emphasized the importance of every individual in the police force fulfilling their role in protecting people’s lives and property.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif conveyed appreciation on behalf of the entire community, highlighting Shehrbano’s swift and decisive intervention that saved lives and prevented a potential disaster. This intervention showcased the highest standards of professionalism and bravery within the police force.
Additionally, the Punjab Police chief announced that the department has recommended ASP Shehrbano Naqvi for the Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal, the highest gallantry award for law enforcement in Pakistan, for risking her life to “rescue a woman from a violent crowd.”
