An anti-terrorism court granted anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan to police for a five-day physical remand on Friday in connection with a case involving the torching of police vehicles outside the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman’s residence in Zaman Park.
During the proceedings before ATC Judge Naveed Iqbal, the police presented the anchorperson, stating his involvement in the incident and the necessity of his physical custody for further investigation. The police requested a 15-day physical remand, but the court partially granted the request, allowing a 5-day physical remand. The court instructed the police to produce the anchorperson before the court on March 6, when the remand term expires. The Race Course police had filed a case against the accused and others for torching police vehicles.
Simultaneously, an anti-corruption court granted bail to anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan in a case related to acquiring the Tharabi Lake contract at reduced prices. The court ordered the anchorperson to provide surety bonds worth Rs 100,000 to secure the bail.
Judge Safdar Ali Bhatti of the Anti-Corruption Court approved the post-arrest bail petition of the anchorperson after arguments from both sides. The Anti-Corruption Establishment Punjab had accused Imran Riaz and his father of obtaining the Tharabi Lake contract at significantly lower rates.
