In the inaugural diplomatic exchange between the President of the United States and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, Joe Biden affirmed Washington’s unwavering support for Pakistan in addressing critical global and regional issues. This communication marks a significant milestone, considering the strained relations between Islamabad and the White House following the cipher controversy and accusations from the former ruling party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In his letter, President Biden emphasized the indispensable nature of the enduring partnership between the two nations in ensuring global and regional security. He pledged continued solidarity with Pakistan in confronting the most pressing challenges of our time. This commitment extends to fostering health security, promoting economic growth, and expanding access to education.
Furthermore, under the framework of the US-Pakistan “Green Alliance,” President Biden pledged to bolster efforts in climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, water management, and aiding Pakistan’s recovery from the devastating floods of 2022.
President Biden reiterated the United States’ dedication to collaborating with Pakistan in safeguarding human rights and advancing progress. He expressed optimism about the ongoing strengthening of bilateral ties and fostering a close bond between the American and Pakistani people.
Since the formation of the new government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz, both countries have experienced a thaw in relations, marked by increased bilateral engagements and cooperation.
