Robbery Incidents
In Karachi, a series of robbery-related incidents has led to the tragic loss of four civilians, including Coast Guard Major Saad and a security guard.
These events have contributed to a grim tally of 60 lives lost since the beginning of 2024 due to resistance during robberies.
The recent incident unfolded in the SITE area, where the perpetrators made off with a staggering sum of Rs10.30 million, marking it as one of the largest robbery cases in the locality.
Among the victims were two employees of a poultry farm, Sher Alam and Zakir, who were fatally attacked while transporting a substantial amount of money from their workplace to the bank. The culprits swiftly escaped after seizing the cash.
Adding to the toll, a security guard near the Gharibabad underpass fell victim to the robbers’ gunfire as he attempted to apprehend them.
Karachi Police and Rangers promptly responded by intensifying snap-checking operations, leading to a brief pursuit during which the assailants abandoned their motorcycle and fled into a nearby street.
Tragically, Major Saad, who sustained injuries during a previous robbery resistance incident in the Sher Shah area, succumbed to his wounds on March 31st while undergoing treatment.
In another distressing incident, three suspects invaded a residence in Farid Colony, Orangi Town, resulting in the death of Jamrali Shah.
However, amidst the chaos, the community near Karimi Chowrangi, Sarjani Town, demonstrated resilience by apprehending one of the bandits and promptly handing them over to the police.
These incidents underscore the persistent challenge of crime and violence in Karachi, prompting authorities to bolster security measures and intensify efforts to combat criminal activities.
The loss of innocent lives highlights the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to address crime and ensure the safety and well-being of the city’s residents.
