The Airport Security Force (ASF) has swiftly responded to what it labels as a deliberate dissemination of misinformation through the resharing of two old videos across social media platforms. These videos, depicting incidents involving ASF officials, have been exploited by malicious entities to spread provocation and defamation, according to a spokesperson for the ASF.
The spokesperson alleged that these two old videos are being deliberately circulated repeatedly on social media to propagate misinformation and provocation as part of an organized conspiracy. One video portrays an ASF official allegedly misbehaving with a minor girl, while the other depicts an official engaged in a confrontation with an angry mob in 2019.
In response, the ASF has initiated stringent departmental disciplinary measures against the individuals featured in the old videos, in accordance with the law. The spokesperson emphasized that the department maintains a rigorous system of accountability, echoing the principles of the Pakistan Army, under which no one within the force is exempt from scrutiny. A policy of zero tolerance is strictly enforced against any form of inappropriate behavior by officers.
According to the statement, employees depicted in the old videos have undergone court-martial proceedings and subsequently been dismissed from service. The spokesperson condemned the orchestrated campaign aimed at defaming Pakistan and sowing discord within its institutions. By manipulating old videos, malicious elements seek to undermine the morale of security forces and incite national enmity.
Despite these challenges, the ASF remains resolute in its dedication to duty and will not tolerate any attempts to tarnish its reputation or disrupt its operations. In one of the videos gaining traction on social media, a minor girl can be seen running towards her father at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport. However, an officer pulls her back by her hair, causing her to fall, eliciting her tears.
The response to this video has been significant, with cricket superstar Shahid Afridi among those expressing concern. Afridi stated that individuals incapable of empathizing with children should not hold public office. The ASF spokesperson acknowledged the authenticity of the footage but stressed that the accountability lies with the individual officer, not the force as a whole.
