A320 Surpasses 737 After Flynas Delivery
Airbus has overtaken Boeing in a landmark achievement. As of October 7, 2025, the A320 family holds the record for most-delivered commercial jetliner. The milestone occurred when a A320neo was handed over to Flynas, pushing Airbus’ cumulative A320 deliveries to 12,260 since 1988, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium.
For decades, Boeing’s 737 had reigned supreme in the narrow-body aircraft market. Now, after years of steady growth, Airbus has claimed the top spot. The shift reflects rising demand for single-aisle aircraft, especially from Asia and low-cost carriers.
Victory for Airbus Amid Global Demand and Technical Innovation
The A320’s rise is built on innovation and strategic moves. When it launched in 1984, Airbus introduced fly-by-wire controls—once a risky design choice that later became an industry standard. Despite political and technical challenges in its early years, the A320 became Europe’s first major commercial aircraft success story.
Meanwhile, Boeing’s 737 has had its share of success but also significant setbacks—especially after the 737 MAX crashes in 2018 and 2019 that hurt its reputation and production.
Airbus now leads in annual deliveries, surpassing Boeing’s output for the year. The record is also symbolic: it caps a 40‑year rivalry and shows where global market demand is headed.
