Former tennis star Anna Kournikova made a rare public appearance over the weekend, spotted in a wheelchair during an outing in Miami, Florida.
According to Hello! Magazine, Kournikova was seen wearing an orthopedic boot while shopping at the Bal Harbour Mall. She was accompanied by her mother and a friend, who assisted her with the wheelchair, while her five-year-old daughter, Mary, walked beside her.
Despite her condition, the former Grand Slam doubles champion appeared in good spirits, dressed in a casual all-black athleisure outfit with her hair in a top knot and sunglasses resting on her head.
Kournikova retired from professional tennis in 2003 due to chronic injuries, including severe back pain that made even simple daily tasks, such as tying her shoes, difficult.
Reflecting on her struggles, she shared in a 2020 interview: “It was incredibly tough and absolutely terrifying. I tried everything, from therapy to spending hours walking on the beach, to reflect, explore, and experiment with new approaches.”
Her recent outing has sparked curiosity among fans, though she has yet to comment on her current health condition.
