Sunni Ittehad Council-backed PTI leader Asad Qaiser has proposed the establishment of a judicial commission by the Supreme Court to investigate the cipher case and unveil the truth. Addressing the National Assembly, the former speaker called for the media regulatory authority to lift the ban on PTI, withdrawal of cases against party members, and an inquiry into alleged electoral rigging.
Qaiser emphasized PTI’s clear stance on the cipher case, asserting that Imran Khan, the former prime minister, was sentenced based on it. He raised concerns about a Grade 19 officer dictating to the ambassador and claimed that court hearings were manipulated, with judges allegedly forced to make decisions at gunpoint. He suggested a judicial commission to uncover the truth.
Highlighting PTI’s commitment to constitutional rights and justice within the legal framework, Qaiser warned that without their rights, no one could govern. He pledged to pursue justice through constitutional means and the rule of law.
During his speech, the state news channel abruptly stopped broadcasting. Asad Qaiser criticized opponents, questioning the legitimacy of their electoral victories and calling for an investigation into alleged rigging. He condemned the raid on Mehmood Khan Achakzai’s house and asserted that Imran Khan would not compromise on principles or leave the country.
Claiming the party’s mandate was stolen in Karachi, Qaiser demanded a commission of Supreme Court judges to investigate electoral rigging. He insisted on upholding the supremacy of the Constitution in Pakistan and revealed pressure to split from Imran Khan, but he vowed to remain loyal to the party.
Pointing at the treasury benches, Qaiser alleged that those in the House had questionable legitimacy, demanding PEMRA lift the PTI ban. He conditioned talks on withdrawing cases against Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
