Pakistan-India clashes expected at neutral venues
The Asia Cup 2025 is likely to be shifted from India to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to sources familiar with the matter.
On Wednesday, insiders revealed that the UAE has emerged as the front-runner to host the tournament, with discussions underway to finalize the venue change. If approved, the event is expected to be held in September.
Although India was originally designated as the host nation, a three-year bilateral agreement between India and Pakistan stipulates that matches involving both countries be played at neutral venues, due to ongoing political and diplomatic tensions.
The final decision now rests with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), which is expected to make an official announcement in the coming weeks.
Should the move be confirmed, it will not be the first time the UAE has stepped in as host for a major cricketing event, having previously accommodated tournaments that faced logistical or diplomatic challenges in their originally scheduled venues.
