Security Forces Launch Operation After Incident in Zezri
ZIARAT – In a troubling development, Assistant Commissioner of Ziarat, Afzal Baqi, was abducted along with his son by unidentified armed men on Sunday in the Zezri area, a popular tourist destination in Balochistan.
According to Levies sources, the armed men intercepted the official’s vehicle, forcibly took Afzal Baqi, his son, his security guards, and the driver. After abducting them, the attackers set the vehicle on fire.
The gunmen later released the guards and the driver unharmed, abandoning them a short distance from the abduction site. However, they continued to hold the Assistant Commissioner and his son.
Search Operation Underway
Following the abduction, security forces and local administration swiftly launched a search operation in the surrounding areas to locate the victims and apprehend the perpetrators. Authorities have not yet disclosed further details on the motive or the identity of the abductors.
The incident has raised concerns about the deteriorating security situation in parts of Balochistan, particularly in areas frequented by tourists and government officials.
