Pakistan’s upcoming white-ball series in New Zealand, set to take place from March 16 to April 5 and featuring five T20Is and three ODIs, may see several senior players opting to take a break. Sources suggest that discussions among the players regarding their participation are currently underway.
Amid concerns over underwhelming performances in the recent Champions Trophy, some key players are reportedly contemplating skipping the tour. The lack of strong individual performances has led to fears among the team that they could face exclusion from the squad, with high-ranking officials within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressing dissatisfaction over the results.
As talks intensify about potential changes in the selection committee, team management, and the white-ball squad, there is speculation that prominent players, including Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Babar Azam, could be dropped.
In light of these uncertainties, some players are considering voluntarily pulling out of the New Zealand tour to avoid the stigma of being dropped, sources revealed.
