QUETTA – The Balochistan government has enforced Section 144 across all districts of the province for a period of 15 days, citing heightened security concerns. The restrictions, effective from August 16 to August 31, aim to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents during this period.
A formal notification issued by the provincial authorities outlines several prohibitions that will remain in force throughout Balochistan. These include a complete ban on pillion riding and the prohibition of face coverings—such as masks or cloths—while riding motorcycles. Officials say these measures are intended to prevent suspects from concealing their identities.
Public Gatherings and Assemblies Also Restricted
In addition to motorcycle-related restrictions, the order also bans all forms of public gatherings. Specifically, any assembly of more than five individuals in one place is prohibited under the directive. This includes protests, rallies, or other group activities, regardless of their purpose.
Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to strictly enforce the order, and violators may face legal action under relevant laws. Authorities emphasized that the decision to impose Section 144 was made in the public interest and is a preventive measure to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
The government has urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement and avoid activities that may violate the imposed restrictions during the specified period.
