Former Pakistan Test cricketer Basit Ali has suggested that the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 be relocated to Bangladesh, highlighting the country’s deep passion for cricket and strong camaraderie with Pakistan.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the ex-middle-order batsman described Bangladesh as a “brotherly nation” and emphasized that its stadiums consistently draw packed crowds. He argued that shifting the tournament there, instead of Dubai, would reinvigorate fan engagement and bolster the league’s visibility.
“Rather than holding the games in Dubai, we should consider Bangladesh,” Basit wrote. “Cricket is immensely loved there, and every match is played in front of a full house.”
His proposal comes amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the remainder of PSL 10, which was suspended indefinitely following the Prime Minister’s directive in light of escalating regional tensions, reportedly due to Indian military activity.
While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has yet to release a formal decision, insiders suggest that franchises have been told to keep their foreign players stationed in Dubai, while local players are advised to stay ready for a potential resumption.
There are also reports that the PCB might soon summon players to Islamabad for final discussions before announcing the tournament’s next steps.
Although PSL matches have previously been held in the UAE due to security reasons, hosting the games in Bangladesh would be a first for the league in South Asia outside of Pakistan, should the proposal be approved.
