The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a ₹58 crore cash reward for the Indian cricket team following their victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where they defeated New Zealand in the final.
Led by Rohit Sharma, India secured their third Champions Trophy title at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 9, marking back-to-back ICC tournament wins after triumphing in the U19 Women’s World Cup earlier this year.
This victory is India’s first Champions Trophy win since 2013, with their previous titles coming in 2002 (shared with Sri Lanka) and 2013.
BCCI President Roger Binny praised the team’s accomplishment, stating, “Winning consecutive ICC titles highlights Team India’s dominance on the global stage. This cash award is a tribute to the players’ dedication and the efforts of the support staff.”
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla commended the team’s composure, adding, “The players demonstrated remarkable resilience under pressure, serving as an inspiration for young cricketers across the nation.”
India’s Road to Glory
India started their Champions Trophy campaign with a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh, fueled by Shubman Gill’s eighth ODI century. They followed up with another six-wicket win against Pakistan, thanks to Virat Kohli’s 51st ODI hundred, which helped chase down 242 with ease.
A crucial victory over New Zealand in the final group match, highlighted by Varun Chakravarthy’s five-wicket haul and Shreyas Iyer’s 79-run innings, secured India’s spot at the top of the table. In the semi-final against Australia, Kohli’s composed 84 guided India to a four-wicket victory, earning them a place in their third consecutive Champions Trophy final.
In a tense final against New Zealand, skipper Rohit Sharma’s 76-run knock played a key role in India’s four-wicket win. Shreyas Iyer emerged as India’s leading run-scorer in the tournament, amassing 243 runs at an average of 79.41 across five matches. At the same time, Mohammed Shami and Chakravarthy topped the wicket-taking charts with nine scalps each.
