Bilawal
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has expressed concern over the recent statements made by U.S. lawmakers and President-elect Trump’s aide, which he believes are supporting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
Bilawal questioned why those who had conspired against Pakistan were now raising their voices for Imran Khan’s release.
He called for unity within Pakistan to confront the alleged conspiracy being plotted against the country and emphasized the importance of prioritizing the defense and security of Pakistan over political differences.
Bilawal pointed out that international powers, particularly the U.S., had shown interest in Pakistan’s nuclear program, which he attributed to the contributions of former Prime Ministers Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
He accused these foreign powers of casting an “evil eye” on the nuclear technology gifted to Pakistan by these leaders, and he criticized their interference in Pakistan’s internal politics.
The PPP leader expressed his belief that the U.S. lawmakers’ statements regarding Pakistan’s internal matters were merely excuses, with their true intention being the targeting of Pakistan’s nuclear and missile programs.
Furthermore, Bilawal questioned the rationale behind the foreign support for Imran Khan, who has been at the center of political turmoil in Pakistan, especially given that these same powers had previously issued statements against Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities.
He challenged Imran Khan to clarify his position regarding these foreign statements and called for PTI and its leader to publicly condemn such interventions.
According to Bilawal, there is a growing impression that a certain lobby within Pakistan is pushing for a government that would be willing to negotiate on sensitive issues, including the country’s nuclear program.
In his speech, Bilawal also addressed the need for national consensus on key issues. He stated that the current PML-N-led government lacked the mandate to make unilateral decisions, particularly on matters as critical as national defense and security.
His remarks came on the 17th death anniversary of his mother, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, during a public gathering at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.
Bilawal paid tribute to his mother, describing her 30-year political struggle as a significant part of Pakistan’s history. He praised Benazir Bhutto for her unwavering commitment to her ideology and her advocacy for the marginalized segments of society.
The PPP and its supporters across Pakistan observed the 17th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto with deep devotion and respect. A large congregation was held in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, the hometown and final resting place of the Bhutto family.
In addition to Bilawal, former President Asif Ali Zardari, PPP leaders from across the country, and other political figures attended the event. The stage was decorated with party flags and portraits of Benazir Bhutto, and the event included poetry tributes from renowned poets to honor the legacy of the late leader.
