In a significant step for Pakistan’s cryptocurrency and blockchain sector, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the founder of Binance and a prominent figure in the Web3 world, has been named a strategic advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC).
The announcement followed a high-level meeting between CZ and the PCC, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. Senior government officials were also in attendance, including the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, and federal secretaries from the Ministries of Law and IT.
During his visit, CZ also held separate meetings with the prime minister and deputy prime minister.
“This marks a historic milestone for Pakistan,” said Senator Aurangzeb. “It signals to the global community that Pakistan welcomes innovation. With CZ’s involvement, we are fast-tracking our ambition to establish Pakistan as a regional hub for Web3 technologies, digital finance, and blockchain innovation.”
Echoing this vision, Pakistan Crypto Council CEO Bilal Bin Saqib stated, “Pakistan is embracing the future of finance. There’s no better person to lead this transformation than CZ, the visionary who built the world’s leading crypto exchange and reshaped global perceptions of financial independence.”
As a strategic advisor, CZ will contribute his expertise in shaping regulatory policies, enhancing digital infrastructure, educating the public, and promoting widespread adoption of cryptocurrency technologies. His role is expected to be crucial in developing a safe, inclusive, and globally aligned crypto ecosystem in Pakistan.
“Pakistan, with a population of 240 million — more than 60% of whom are under 30 — holds immense untapped potential,” CZ remarked during the announcement.
The Pakistan Crypto Council, operating under the Finance Division, is spearheading the country’s digital financial transformation. With CZ’s guidance, Pakistan aspires to join leading nations like Singapore, Dubai, and Switzerland in embracing a Web3-ready future.
